On May 18, 2024 between From 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., residents of Riga and guests of Riga are invited to visit the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center" in the year of its fifteenth anniversary and view the Art Nouveau interior, paintings by Latvian masters, as well as enjoy the atmosphere of the start of the 20th century.
The International European Museum Night always gathers many visitors, and this year, too, there will be an opportunity to enjoy the themed Night of Museums guided tours, which have already become a tradition. Guests will be invited to view the interior exposition arranged in the apartment of architect K. Pēkšēns, enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of May evening and listen to the sounds of accordion. Remembering the significant founding of the Latvian student corporation "Selonija" in 1880 and the work of architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns (1859 – 1928) in educating a new generation of architects, visitors will also hear popular student and corporation songs from the 20th century.
The museum has been delighting residents of Riga and guests of Riga for fifteen years. Since its establishment in the spring of 2009, the exposition has expanded and can be seen on two floors. The family apartment of the architect Konstantins Pēkšēns has an Art Nouveau interior, while a virtual museum with an ambitious digital exhibition has been opened in the basement of the house at 12 Albert Street, which offers research materials on Art Nouveau cultural and historical heritage and a digitized collection database.
This time, the participants of the Museum Night event will have the opportunity to take a look at the museum's current exhibition "Femme fatale" and see the works of the excellent art nouveau painters in the exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the museum "Rosentāls. Purvītis. Valters", which exhibits the works of these artists from the private collection of the Kukšu estate.
