Lithuanian artist Tomass Daunoras has created a new bone china and glass installation for an exhibition at the Riga Porcelain Museum.
“Waterfall – a vertically falling and continuously horizontally flowing line of water - exploding, foaming and subsequently ebbing. As an inspirational image this installation is arranged to present a fresh view on every inspection, connecting the separate china and glass details.
On the other hand, the laconic installation is grouped into segments to highlight their design and artistic assets through the background of forms and compositions. This is an important opportunity to newly rearrange the separate elements to adapt for a specific environment.” Tomass Daunoras.
“...Tomas belongs to a generation of artists that try to give a sense to the authenticity of their individual world view and question problems of spiritual identity. The ideological base of his creative work is the mythical and historic past of the Balts’. His view of the world is transfused with archetypal images that he seeks to integrate into a modern worldview. While searching for the core of identity, the artist does not declare individual autonomy or dissociate himself from collective mentality, and he does not retreat from the impulses born in the deepest layers of the subconscious. He rather tries to find an appropriate language of plasticity to express multilevel content. His artistic way of thinking is distinguished by minimalist moderation. Constructive, architectonic structure of image, compact silhouettes and reserved colour spectrum give his works archaic suggestion and primordial rigour seasoned by webs of subtle texture and openwork ornamental design...” Danute Zoviene, Art Critic.
