The Riga Porcelain Museum presents an express exhibition, “Beatrise Kārkliņa Sends Holiday Greetings!”, from June 20 to August 3, 2025, showcasing the latest works of the renowned Riga Porcelain Factory artist and designer Beatrise Kārkliņa (b. 1933).
With a creative career spanning over 44 years at the Riga Porcelain factory, BeatriseKārkliņa has developed a diverse artistic style seen in both industrially produced and unique author pieces. Her work reflects socialist realism, Soviet modernism, industrial functionalism, realistic depictions of flora and fauna, ornamental and geometric motifs, abstract compositions, and Latvian national themes within the historical context.
In 2017, the museum published a monograph titled “Industrial Romanticism: Beatrise Kārkliņa’s Porcelain”, and in 2024, she was awarded the Cross of Recognition for her lifelong contributions to porcelain art and Latvian culture.
Despite her advanced age, Kārkliņa remains creatively active, responding to cultural and political events through her decorative plate and vase paintings. The exhibition highlights the significance of midsummer solstice traditions in Latvian mythology and bridges historical porcelain art with contemporary practices.
The exhibition is held at the museum’s creative workshop and runs until August 3, 2025.
