Throughout September, in addition to the permanent creative workshops, the Riga Porcelain Museum will host a special thematic workshop "Transformations of Glazes".
At the Riga Porcelain Museum, anyone can put themselves in the shoes of an artist and try their hand at painting porcelain, creating souvenirs or unique dishes for everyday use. However, every month the Riga Porcelain Museum organizes special thematic workshops. In September, the special creative workshops is " Transformations of Glazes ", or an unique opportunity to paint with glazes on biscuit porcelain.
Participants of the workshop will be able to work on two unglazed porcelain bowls (diameter 7-12 cm). Under the guidance of museum pedagogues - professional artists, visitors will be able to learn the peculiarities of the technique, find out what to expect from flowing glazes, how to control them, how to create unique composition and experiment with color combinations. After drying, the glazed bowls will be fired in a ceramic oven at a temperature of 1250 degrees. During the firing, the glaze changes - it comes to life and acquires shine, color depth and saturation. Even experienced ceramists call porcelain glazing the art of surprises, because the glazes melt together and create unexpected pictorial effects.
The finished works can be received after two weeks at the Riga Porcelain Museum.
Participation fee EUR 8.00 (from each participant); the price includes two biscuit porcelain bowls, workshop materials, consultation of museum pedagogues and firing of the created object in the oven.
