From June 6 to September 20, the exhibition “Rosemania. The Charm of Roses” will be on view at the Latgale Cultural History Museum. The exhibition is created in collaboration with curator and collector Gilles Bonvial (France) and the Rēzekne Culture and Tourism Centre. It offers a multifaceted insight into the world of roses — their botanical history, symbolic meaning, and manifestations in various art forms. Visitors will be able to explore unique objects and artworks that reveal the rose’s place in painting, sculpture, decorative arts, fashion, perfumery, and more.
Among the diverse exhibition items, there will also be objects from the museum “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” collection created in the early 20th century — teapots, candy dishes, and plates manufactured at the M. S. Kuznetsov Society’s porcelain and faience factory; a coffee trio hand-painted in the J. Jaksch & Co porcelain painting workshop; embroidered towels and scarves; a painted towel hanger; a handbag; a photo album; and greeting postcards. Several of these items were displayed at the “Rosemania” exhibition in France and can now be seen in Rēzekne.
The exhibition will also showcase items from the Latvian National Museum of Art, Rundāle Palace Museum, Riga History and Navigation Museum, Jēkabpils History Museum, the University of Latvia Library, several Latvian Catholic parishes, as well as private collections from Latvia and France.
The exhibition “Rosemania. The Charm of Roses” is on display at the Latgale Cultural History Museum in Rēzekne, Atbrīvošanas Aleja 102, until September 20, 2025.
