Chairman of the Latvian Central Council, professor Konstantīns Čakste, with his daughters Katrīna and Anna. Jūrmala, 1943. Čakste was arrested by Nazi security authorities on April 29, 1944. Imprisoned in Riga Central Prison and Salaspils concentration camp, later transferred to Stutthof concentration camp. Died during the evacuation of Stutthof camp on the night of February 21/22, 1945, near Krepa Kaszubska on the way to Pomeranian Lauenburg (now Leborka).
