A. Čaks poetry has been translated into more than twenty languages. The peculiarities of each language dictate its own rules of sound and form. Translation is a bridge between two languages with the contribution of cultural nuances.
In 2001, a selection of translations of A. Čaks poetry "Only You" was published in six languages - English, German, Russian, French, Spanish and Swedish. In recent years, translations have also been made into Georgian, Belarusian and Ukrainian languages.
Translation of a poetic text/poem into another language is an important step in the interaction of two cultures, two languages, which hides many challenges and dictates its own rules. The most important questions are language differences and the problems associated with them, as well as the priorities of form or content in the text. In the course of the event, we will try to understand - what is more important and what needs to be subordinated? And, of course, let's listen to poetry.
