From February 11 to April 30, 2025, the anniversary exhibition “Liepas…” by photo artist Guna Oškalna-Vējiņa will be on display at the Aleksandrs Čaks Museum, located at Lāčplēša Street 48-8. The exhibition opening will take place on February 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
This exhibition features the artist's recent works, which are inspired by the moods of Aleksandrs Čaks’ city. Guna Oškalna-Vējiņa reflects that Čaks has had a significant presence in her childhood; she would read his poetry with her mother and sing songs featuring his verses. The anniversary exhibition reflects the artist's Čaks-like dreams under the linden trees, where over the years, Čaks' poetry has influenced her creative work.
In 2014, Oškalna-Vējiņa was awarded the A. Čaks Memorial Badge for her artistic thinking and creativity. The award, introduced in 2012, honors individuals who have contributed to the study of Čaks' life and work through various fields such as pedagogy, museum work, journalism, publishing, and research. The Memorial Badge is presented every two years to those who engage others—particularly students and schoolchildren—in a deeper understanding of Čaks’ poetry.
