1888 marks the start of the work of the factory "Provodnik", which during its existence became one of the largest production plants in Riga, and its products gained the world fame.
Celebrating the 135th anniversary of "Provodnik", the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center" will exhibit the objects from the museum's collection related to this industrial giant in the series "Museum Stories", while the project manager of the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center", Dzintars Gilba, will recall the history of the factory at the event on January 4, 2023, at 17.00.
The objects will be on display in the museum until January 31.
Factory "Provodniks", in its full name - Russian-French rubber, gutta-percha and telegraph accessories factory "Provodnik" produced a wide variety of rubber products, including rubber clothing, linoleum, surgical and medical items, toys, but gained world fame with its galoshes and car tires . In 1910, the company's annual turnover was 21 million rubles and the number of employees in the factory reached 6,000. According to the production volumes, "Provodnik" took the fourth place in the production of rubber products of that time, and the second place in the world in the production of tires. The factory was located in Sankandaugava and operated until 1915.
