From Tuesday to Saturday throughout February, the Riga Porcelain Museum is hosting a creative modeling workshop featuring colorful porcelain clays.
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating process of creating porcelain products. Participants will learn both how to craft porcelain and various decoration techniques.
Everyone is invited to join and create a vibrant and high-quality porcelain piece for everyday use – a piala (Eastern-style bowl). Children aged 10 and up, their parents, and anyone interested in creative expression are welcome to participate, either individually or in groups. No prior experience is required.
Porcelain is traditionally known for its white color, but by mixing metal oxides, it’s possible to create a range of hues. The workshop will offer blue, black, and white porcelain clays, allowing participants to combine them into stunning and one-of-a-kind pieces, perfect for personal use or as gifts. At participants’ request, finished pieces can be glazed, and completed works will be available for pick-up at the museum in a few weeks.
The workshop will be led by museum educators Vita Lukstiņa and Astra Kaprāne.
The workshop is open to all visitors aged 10 and older, and groups of up to 8 participants can join. The event is also accessible to people with functional disabilities.
Prior registration required by phone at +371 26406354, daily from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM, except on Mondays and Sundays.
