From August 15 to September 15, 2023, Ilze Cērpiņa's exhibition "A Woman and My Birds" can be seen in the gallery on the 2nd floor of the Riga Culture and Recreation Center "Imanta".
Ilze Cērpiņa graduated from the Department of Art and Environmental Design of the Baltic International Academy. She learned the basics of painting from artists Biruta Stafecka and Agnija Ģērmane. Ilze's paintings are very gorgeous, bright and feminine, and within audience create pleasant emotions. Ilze believes that art is our spiritual food, and if anyone claims otherwise, it is an illusion.
From generation to generation, a woman in her subconsciousness inherits knowledge about how to approach her inner strength, how to deal with difficult life situations and how to be self-sufficient. This knowledge breaks into our consciousness when it is most needed. We do not always know the true cause of another person's thoughts or actions, but we are aware that nothing in life is black or white. The image of a woman and the woman herself is a legacy of cultural and historical experience of the assigned role of a woman.
With the exhibition "Woman and my birds", the artist wants to introduce you to the diverse nature of a woman, the countless facets of personality, the influence of past experiences on everyday life and the things that make us the women we are today.
In 2020, Ilze started cooperation with the Latvian clothing brand "R • MATCH design" and its creator Rūta Staudža. Some of Ilze Cērpina's works can also be purchased on t-shirts, sweaters and dresses, as reproductions of the artist's paintings are depicted on the clothes. At the beginning of this summer, a satin kimono with elements from the popular painting "Frida" was also created in cooperation with "R • MATCH design".
The exhibition is open to visitors every day from 10.00 to 20.00
