We invite all art lovers to Anita Paegle's exhibition "Sphinx's Smile". The exhibition will be on display from February 3rd to April 6th at the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center".
The drawings displayed in the exhibition are made as illustrations for the book "The Smile of Sphinx Alberta" by Māra Cielēna and depict the diverse images of the people living in the street, figures seen in the decorations of the art nouveau houses on Alberta Street and represented in the stained glass windows.
Alberta Street, the pearl of Riga Art Nouveau, is mentioned in almost all tourist guides about Latvia, it attracts the attention of both city guests and artists. The Art Nouveau decors that richly adorn the building facades have come to life in Māra Cielēna's book about the lost smile of the sphinx. The story is organically complemented by elegant illustrations by Anita Paegle. Lively and fun, they encourage you to pay attention to how much Riga is connected to world culture and art.
