The small flower is surrounded by the legends of so many nations and symbolizes trust and remembrance. It is closely linked to European culture since the Middle Ages and does not lose its relevance even today.
The oldest objects to be seen are perfume vessels from the second half of the 18th century, where forget me nots are embedded in luxurious flower arrangements. During the Art Nouveau period, these flowers gained special popularity as symbols of romantic love and decorated both postcards, pocket-sized poetry books and dried, attached to letters. Forget me nots also flourish on porcelain, glass and embroidery, and were widely used as decorative elements in the second half of the 20th century.
The exhibition features items from the collection of Riga Art Nouveau Center Museum, as well as from Jaunmoku Castle Museum, Latvian War Museum, Latvian Medical Museum, Liepāja Museum, Ogre Museum, Riga Porcelain Museum, Riga History and Navigation Museum, Rundāle Castle Museum, Museum of Literature and Music, Tukums Museum and several private collections.
The exhibition in the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center" is open until September 25, 2022. The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00 every day except Mondays.
