The exhibition " Lily of the vally " can be viewed at the "Riga Art Nouveau Center" museum from May 31 to October 8, 2024. The museum is open from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. every day except Mondays.
At the end of spring and during the glorious summer blooming, the "Riga Art Nouveau Center" museum invites you to view the " Lily of the vally s" exhibition. It will be possible to view interior items, dishes and postcards from the collections of ten Latvian museums and several private collections.
The lily of the valley delights with its elegant, fragile flowers and is dizzying with its delightful scent. In many European countries, it is a symbol of purity, joy, love, sincerity, happiness and success. In various decorations, lily og the vally are depicted both alone and together with other flowers - forget-me-nots, violets, lilacs and even roses.
In the exhibition, lily of the vally will be seen on various objects made in the period from classicism to the present day - glass, porcelain and metal dishes, interior items, works of art, magazines and postcards.
In the diverse range of objects of the exhibition, the plates of the Art Nouveau period with an elegant decal of lilies of the valley and lilacs, which were used in the once popular restaurant "Edinburgas Parks", are especially highlighted. Every visitor to the museum will be delighted by exquisite colored glass vases, Villeroy & Boch majolica plates, a painting by Ģederts Elias and one of the unique silver forges of the artist OlegS Auzers.
The exhibition exhibits items from the collection of the "RIga Art Nouveau Center" museum, as well as from the Cēsu Museum of History and Art, the Ģederts Elias Jelgava Museum of History and Art, the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, the Limbaži Museum, the Museum of Writing and Music, the Riga Porcelain Museum, the Riga History and Shipping museum, Rundāle Castle Museum, Talsi County Museum Collection, University of Latvia Academic Library and several private collections.
