From December 5, 2023 to February 5, 2024, the exhibition "City Angels" by the artist Ineta Freidenfelde is on display at the Aleksandra Čaka Museum.
Artist Ineta Freidenfelde finds inspiration for her creative work in the urban environment. As a result, the series of exhibitions "City Angels" was created. Exhibition reflects the merging of the urban ecosystem and the spiritual world into one whole. The artist was inspired by the poetry of A. Čaks, which speaks in a similar language about the space around us, the peculiar environment of the city, where trams and cars rush by, but the small and vulnerable remain unnoticed - plants, birds, animals.
For the creation of her exhibition as a material I. Freidenfelde used old window shutters, which have served their life in a now demolished house in Pārdaugava. Window shutters are both a symbol in A. Čaks poetry and an ecological approach to reusing materials and limiting environmental pollution. It allows already outdated things to turn into a work of art and it is the choise of the artist - not to allow art to pollute the environment by using environmentally unfriendly materials.
