The Riga Porcelain Museum will host the exhibition "Free form" by the group of Baltic ceramicists, which will be on view from June 14 to August 11, 2024.
Be ready to redefine your understanding of porcelain at the upcoming group exhibition "Free form", which will exhibit works by internationally known Latvian artists, such as the duo Skuja Braden, Ilona Romula, Elīna Titāne, Valda Podkalne, Sanita Ābelīte, Jekaterina Sazonova, Tatjana Krivenkova and Andris Vēzis works, the latest work of the Lithuanian Eglė Einikytė-Narkevičienė and the Estonian artist Kauri Kallas, as well as the works of the talented artist Ojūna Batbajara, a representative of the latest ceramist generation. The exhibition is dedicated to the form of porcelain, spatial art objects that the authors create in one copy - by rolling, building, pouring, tearing and shaping. In the permanent exhibition that can be seen on daily bases in the Riga Porcelain Museum, visitors can view industrially produced porcelain, which was created to meet the everyday needs of the society. But the exhibition "Free form" is a stark contrast and shows a very different approach to the porcelain material and what can be done with it. This exhibition is an opportunity to appreciate currently active artists, their unique vision and artistic handwriting. In addition, among the porcelain works, some stoneware elements will also have crept in - it will be a task of ingenuity for an attentive viewer to observe and compare the plastic and aesthetic properties of these materials of the ceramic group.
All the artists of the exhibition are excellent up-and-coming or existing ceramicists, specialists in their field, but each of them is different both in the process of creation and in the end result. However, one aspect unites them all - the form.
The exhibition "Free form" will surprise you with its visual expression. The exhibition will break down traditional ideas about porcelain and ceramic art, revealing how these materials can redefine conventional forms and serve as a basis for unlimited creativity. It will show individuality, experimentation and the unlimited potential of the human spirit.
In the Riga Porcelain Museum, the exhibition "Free form" can be viewed from June 14 to August 11, 2024.
