In January, you will have the opportunity to create openwork ornaments using tinted cast porcelain at the creative workshop of the Riga Porcelain Museum.
The Riga Porcelain Museum invites you to indulge in your creativity this January by crafting openwork porcelain decorations with your own hands. You will work with cast porcelain in a variety of colors, including white, soft blue, or dark blue. Let your imagination soar as you create unique ornamental patterns!
Using pre-prepared blisters filled with cast porcelain, you can design delicate patterns on a plaster base. After drying and firing at 1250°C, these will transform into beautiful, fragile porcelain ornaments. The museum provides plaster molds prepared by artists, into which you can press the tinted porcelain mass. Within minutes, you will have a decoration featuring nature-inspired images, animals, snowflakes, or even blank earrings and pendants. These porcelain creations will make a unique souvenir, perfect for gifting or as a decorative piece.
Museum educators will assist you in bringing your vision to life and will handle the post-processing of your creation, including glazing and firing. After firing, your jewelry will acquire the distinctive qualities of porcelain—brilliant color and shine. This workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends. It is open to visitors of all ages, starting from school-age children, and is accessible to people with special needs.
The workshop will be led by museum educators Vita Lukstiņa and Astra Kaprāne.
The workshop is available from January 2 to 31, Tuesday to Saturday. The participation fee is 9.00 EUR.
Pre-registration is required by phone at +371 26406354 or by email at rpmdarbnica@riga.lv, available daily from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM (except Mondays and Sundays).
