On July 29, 2023 at 5:00 p.m., a concert by the chapel "Hāgenskalnas muzikanti" and the dance collective "Dejotprieks" awaits visitors at the Pāvula Jurjānas Music School.
The musical mood of the event, that channels the mood of the past, will be created by the chapel "Hāgenskalna muzikanti", which works with the aim of popularizing the traditions of playing Latvian instruments and the musical repertoire based on the styles of domestic music of the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
The calling card of the chapel has always been a sensitive attitude towards the old songs and music repertoire, searching for the most suitable sound of a certain era. Romantic songs, outdoor ball dance music, Latvian couplets and localized foreign song hit, well-loved and lesser-known songs by well-known and unknown authors are the repertoire of the chapel, which has delighted listeners in many places in Latvia and beyond.
The concert will feature both well-known, sing-along and danceable songs, as well as musical pearls of the past brought out of oblivion. The concert will be conducted by Ilmārs Pumpurs, head of the chapel “Hāgenskalnas muzikanti”. Lively dancers of the Riga Culture Center "Dejotprieks" will also grace the concert.
