On 16 October 2026 at 20:00, the youth choir “Kamēr…” will perform its concert “In Two Worlds” at the Ave Sol Concert Hall.
This summer, the youth choir “Kamēr…” embarked on its most ambitious concert tour to date, travelling to Hong Kong and Taiwan to share the traditions of Latvian and European choral music on the other side of the world. In autumn, the journey continues in the opposite direction, to Turin, where the choir has been selected as the resident choir for the prestigious international Fosco Corti Conducting Competition.
Between these two journeys, the concert “In Two Worlds” takes shape.
Europe and Asia are two distinct cultural spheres, each with its own history, language, perspectives and musical traditions. Their differences do not need to be erased for them to speak to one another. Beyond the boundaries of culture, language and geography, something far simpler and more universal remains: the human experience.
This is something “Kamēr…” experienced time and time again this summer: music born here can resonate with and feel close to audiences thousands of kilometres away. Not because the worlds are the same, but because human longing, joy, sorrow, hope, loneliness and the need for light belong to no single culture. Across different worlds, our emotional landscapes nevertheless meet.
The concert programme explores this inner world through European and Baltic choral music, moving from sacred stillness and prayer to love, longing and light, and from the earliest traditions of European choral music to the contemporary voice of Latvian music.
“In Two Worlds” is a moment between two journeys — a reflection on Asia before setting off for Turin. It is also a reminder that the world can be infinitely diverse, yet the human experience within it is surprisingly similar.
