On the first Christmas, December 25, at 14.00 and at 17.00 Riga Chamber Choir "Ave Sol" invites you to concerts "Christmas mood" in the Great Guild.
Over the years, countless wonderful compositions have been played in the "Christmas Mood" concert programs, ranging from unrepeatable pearls of classical music to original works by contemporary domestic authors. Also in this year's concert program, well-known and beloved Christmas melodies will mix with the modern musical sense of the composer Jānis Strazds in his compositions, which have given a new sound to well-known Christmas texts.
The program will include Pēteris Barison's "Like snow on the top of the mountains", Jāzeps Vītols "Divine radiance", Philip Brooks' "You small, quiet Bethlehem", Maurice Duruflé's "Ubi Caritas", Jānis Strazds instrumental piece and a series of already beloved Christmas songs - “Krustceles”, “Kā?”, “Pie jūras, ziemā, latviešos”, “Vai tu dzirdi, vai tu mani”, “Tik lēni snieg”, “Ziemassvētku roze”, “Miera gariņš”, “Svētā vēstnese”, “Te viņš bija, te viņš zuda”, “Mazie zvaniņi”, “Tikai balts” with the poetry of Guntars Račs, Jānis Peters, Kārļis Skalbe, Vilis Plūdonis and Jānis Ziemnieks, as well as the integral Franz Gruber's "Silent night, holy night" arranged by Jānis Strazds.
Composer Jānis Strazds will create the Christmas mood at the piano together with Riga chamber choir "Ave Sol", instrumentalists - Māris Kupčs (acoustic guitar), Aivars Meijers (double bass), Māris Zīlmanis (percussion), Mārtiņš Zālīte (oboe), Gundars Lintiņš (percussion instruments) and soloist Ieva Parša. The musical content of the concert will be complemented by the most beautiful lines of Christmas poetry by Latvian poets, told by Valmieras Drama Theater actress Ieva Puķe. Artistic director and conductor of the concert Andris Veismanis and conductor Jurģis Cābulis.
Admission to both concerts - free of charge.
