A thematic porcelain workshop "Christmas ornament" will be held in the Riga Porcelain Museum throughout December, from Tuesday to Saturday.
Christmas is associated with white and fragile snowflakes, the smell of fir and time spent with close people. In December, the Riga Porcelain Museum invites you to indulge in creativity dedicated to the holidays and make openwork decorations with your own hands from white or tinted - soft blue or green - porcelain clay. An additional offer is to create ornaments by pressing the porcelain mass into previously prepared ornamental forms. Porcelain snowflakes, candles, fir trees, snowmen and other figures, blanks for earrings, pendants, brooches or sets of Christmas tree ornaments - let your imagination run free, creating your own unique holiday souvenirs!
Openwork decorations are created with a pre-prepared tube filled with castable mass, drawing fine patterns on the plaster base, which after drying and firing at 1250 °C, will turn into beautiful, fragile porcelain ornaments. Or, if you choose, you will be able to press them in pre-prepared molds prepared by professional artists. In any case, the museum teachers will help you realize your idea and take care of the post-processing of the created object.
The workshop is open to visitors from the age of 6, individually or in groups, and is accessible to people with special needs.
Workshop participation fee 9.00 EUR
Mandatory prior application by phone +371 26406354 or e-mail maija.nikitina@riga.lv every day from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except Mondays and Sundays.
