In May, the Riga Porcelain Museum visitors will have a chance to decorate porcelain with thematic decorations specially developed for the May holiday workshop.
May is a month full of holidays and celebrations! When spring arrives, everything around us wakes up and starts to bloom. As every year on May 1, we celebrate Labor Day and the convening day of the Constitutional Assembly of the Republic of Latvia. On May 4, we celebrate the day of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia - some around the table with a white tablecloth, some in a different way. May 9 - Europe Day, May 15 - International Family Day. May 18 - International Museum Day, May 19 - Pentecost. May 22 - the day of celebration of names not recorded in calendars. On the other hand, Mother's Day this year is celebrated on May 12. Orthodox Easter and other religious holidays are also celebrated in the month of May this year.
Regardless which holiday you celebrate, the Riga Porcelain Museum will be open also on the official national holidays and will offer creative holiday workshops to every visitor throughout May! From Tuesday to Saturday, every day - with prior application - it is possible to spend time creatively in a lively atmosphere, creating decorative porcelain together with friends, colleagues, classmates, family, or to relax in quiet solitude and prepare a beautiful gift for yourself! In any company and in any case - at the Riga Porcelain Museum you will have a possibility to decorate porcelain dishes with thematic decals specially developed for the May holiday workshop. The author of thei designs is the artist, graphic designer Alice Landsberga.
The decal is a "transferable sticker" - that is stuck on the dish. After firing at a temperature of 830 degrees, the decal color layer melts into the porcelain glaze and becomes mechanically resistant - such a dish can be used everyday and washed in the dishwasher without any worries. In addition to the special designs the offer also includes decal sheets of different colors, from which participants of the workshop will be able to cut original ornaments and create the most diverse combinations on the surface of the dish, thus in the end obtaining a unique and unrepeatable hand made dish.
The participation fee in the workshop is 6.70 - 19.10 EUR - depending on the value of the chosen porcelain item. The offer includes cups, plates, bowls and other items of various sizes.
Lesson duration ~ 1.5 h
