From December 3, 2024 to February 6, 2025, Aleksandara Čaka Museum will host the exhibition “Winter Story” by artist Ieva Murāne Grantiņa.
Ieva Murāne Grantiņa works in the technique of graphics and drawing, but she is also no stranger to painting. Her works are like freshly fallen snow – miraculous, but impermanent. It is a moment when the world has frozen in anticipation of transformation
Having lived in Sweden for a long time, the artist has appreciated the saturated silence and moments of light when the sun rises while seeing its own sunset. A moment when time holds its breath. This is how the black and white winter stories of this exhibition – drawings and graphic works – were created, as a momentary departure from everyday life.
The exhibition also features the artist's Christmas postcards, without which her artistically creative winter months are unimaginable. They sparkle with colors and coziness, awaiting the arrival of the holidays.
Ieva Murāne Grantiņa has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Latvia, Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Sweden. Her works are in museums and private collections in the Czech Republic, France, Russia, and Sweden.
