Summer is getting closer and there are only few days left in May, during which the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center" invites you to get to know the works of the artist Irina Ošleja (1966 - 2021) by visiting the exhibition "Wake up in a dream" and the Children's Morning event, where children can listen to May's stories from 2017. In 2010, artist publishes the books "Ezītis Jurucis" (“Jurucis the Hedgehog”) published by printhouse "Ežumeži". It contains stories for adults and children with text and drawings by Irina Ošleja. With the image of the friendly hedghog Jurucis, a personified world of nature with various characters opens up to the readers.
Children's morning participants will learn about the exciting adventures of headgehog Jurucis together with Albert the cat, as well as get to know various insects and especially butterflies. Nature motifs in Art Nouveau, especially the depiction of insects, were varied and very popular. Butterflies have inspired artists in fine arts, applied arts, jewelry design and even choreography. American dancer Louie Fuller (1862 -1928) became legendary for imitating the movements of butterflies in dance in her own unique way. Performances by the dancers of the Colo Point dance school under the leadership of Anda Zisberga, will allow museum visitors to imagine the dance of butterflies in the meadows of spring flowers. The songs sung together will also make visitors happy and let them feel the approach of summer, encouraging children to go out into nature and to observe it.
Participants will be invited to be creative, make butterflies and paint them in bright colors using different techniques. The lesson will be led by Iveta Sproģe, the project manager of the museum. The exhibition "Wake up in a dream" by Irina Ošleja (1966 - 2021) can be viewed until May 28, 2023.
