From July 12 to August 14, 2023, the "Summer Heralds" exhibition of paintings by Juris Ģermanis can be seen in the gallery on the 2nd floor of the Riga Culture and Recreation Center "Imanta".
Juris Germanis was born in Riga. In 1960, he graduated from J. Rozentāls Riga Art High School. In 1966, he graduated from the Latvian Art Academy, where his teachers were Ārijs Skride, Konrāds Ubāns, Nikolajs Breikšs, Arnolds Griķis. The basic principles of this school derive from impressionism and post-impressionism tendencies, which Juris Germanis also relies on in his works. For many years he has worked in art pedagogy and leads the art collective "Griva".
Since 1967, he has participated in both personal and group exhibitions throughout Latvia and Europe. Juris Ģermanis paintings are located in the Latvian National Art Museum, the Museum of the Latvian Artists' Union, the Riga History and Shipping Museum, the Talsi County Museum, the J. Rainis Museum of Literature and Art, G. Elias Museum (Jelgava), the Cesu History and Art Museum and the Tukuma Museum, as well as in countless private collections in Latvia and beyond its geographical borders - in the USA, Australia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Germany, etc.
