On 14 November 2026 at 16:00, AVE SOL Concert Hall will host Go, Tell the Whole World, a concert dedicated to Latvia’s National Independence.
At the heart of this concert celebrating Latvia’s birthday will be the music of composer Jānis Lūsēns – as captivating, relevant and timeless as ever – with the composer himself at the piano.
The concert’s title is inspired by the musical Meierovics, created by Jānis Lūsēns and poet Māra Zālīte. Its central message – a person’s devotion to their homeland, the ideal of Latvia’s independence, the determination to share Latvia’s name with the world, and the power to shape history through perseverance – serves as the guiding theme of the entire programme. Composed at different times, the works vary in mood and form, yet repeatedly raise questions that matter to us all: freedom and belonging, individual responsibility, and what Latvia means to each of us.
Jānis Lūsēns’s music always speaks to the heart – melodic, multi-layered and deeply resonant. The programme Go, Tell the Whole World will bring together much-loved compositions familiar to audiences from the musical poem Freedom Is Like an Apple Orchard, dedicated to Latvia’s struggle for freedom and Latvian riflemen, the concert performance A Mystery of Dreams and Love, and other well-known works. The evening’s musical landscape will also feature the world premieres of two new compositions: A Branch of the Bird Cherry Tree, set to words by Antons Austriņš, and When I Have Been Renewed, based on a text by Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš.
Performing alongside composer Jānis Lūsēns will be the mixed choir Laudate, led by artistic director Jānis Misiņš, and the mixed choir Saknes, led by artistic director Jānis Almanis-Palmbahs. The performers will also include soloists Elizabete Laura Porgante and Jānis Misiņš, flautist Evija Mundeciema, bass guitarist Jānis Rubiks and percussionist Uģis Upenieks. Musicologist Liene Jakovļeva will shape and host the concert’s narrative.
