The Association of Culture Institutions of Riga Municipality invites you to visit the traditional event "Michael's Day Fair", which will take place on September 24 in the very heart of Old Riga - Doma Square.
During the event from 09.00 to 17.00, residents of Riga and guests of the city will be able to buy the gifts of the autumn harvest and the creations of masters of applied arts: pumpkins and vegetables grown in the Latvian countryside, baskets with apples and pears. The farmers will offer home made jams, cheeses, home-baked bread and gingerbreads. There will be an opportunity to enjoy and buy honey, smoked meats and delicious fish, because Michael’s Day falls in the richest harvest time, so the feast table was always full of food on this day. Artisans will provide knitwear, ethnographic and contemporary linen products, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork and much more.
On the other hand, from 10.00 to 16.00, visitors of the fair will be able to enjoy a wide cultural program that will be led by the hosts of " Michael's Day Fair " - Zane Valicka and Arturs Dicis. The folklore group "Laiksne", brass band "Fanfara", orchestra "Rīga", brass quintet "Acumirklis" will play music, the Riga Libyan song ensemble "Līvlist" will sing, and the children's dance groups "Teiksmiņa" youth dance ensemble "Dancītis", middle generation dance group "Sidrabi", dance ensemble "Marmale" and folk dance ensemble "Liesma" will delight the audience with dance performances. The program will be closed by the musical association "Ballīšu kvartāls".
Since long ago, Michael’s Day Fair is one of the most abundant days of the autumn, which is accompanied by songs, fun dances and games. This year as well, in honor of the beautiful Latvian tradition, the Association of Culture Institutions of the Riga Municipality organizes the autumn harvest festival event " Michael's Day Fair " with a magnificent cultural program and a cheerful fair.
