On August 25, 2022, the writer and painter Janis Jaunsudrabins would have turned 145 years old. In commemoration of this anniversary, the Riga Art Nouveau Center museum within the series "Museum Stories" will exhibit a new addition to the collection - Janis Jaunsudrabins painting "Forest Meadow". Unveiling of the painting on 25th of August at 12:00. On this day from 12.00-17.00, the project manager of the museum, Dzintars Gilba, will talk about the new acquisition, but the painting itself will be on display in the museum until 25th of September.

At the end of last year, the Riga Art Nouveau Center museum added to its collection the painting "Forest Meadow" by Janis Jaunsudrabins. The small-sized painting made in the oil was created in 1910, and in it the author depicts a corner of Latvia's nature - a meadow near a forest. The work belongs to the early period of Janis Jaunsudrabins work. At the time of its creation, the author had already finished art studies in Riga, held his first exhibition, supplemented his art knowledge in studios in Munich and Berlin, returned to Riga and actively turned to writing. Works from this period are relatively rare and are mostly in private collections. The painting "Forest Meadow" will be viewed for the first time by a wider circle of interested people exactly on the author's birthday – 25th of August, reveal will be complemented by a museum specialist's narration about the artist and his work. The painting will be on display at the museum for a month.
Janis Jaunsudrabins (1877-1962) is a classic of Latvian literature and art, his work are included in the Latvian Culture canon in the fields of both literature ("Aija", "White Book") and art (drawings for "The White Book").
On August 25, entrance to the museum Riga Art Nouveau Center at a special price - 5 euros for adults, 3 euros for pensioners.
