As part of the national holiday month, the men's folk group "Vilki" is celebrating its anniversary. On November 5, 2022 at 18.00 In the Great Hall of the Riga Culture and Recreation Center "Imanta" there will be a concert "About Latvia!" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the men's group "Vilki".
The 30th anniversary concert "About Latvia!" of the men's group "Vilki" will be a solemn and joyful moment in the still active life of the group. On November 5 this year the Soldier Song Ensemble, whose history began in 1980, is celebrating the name day of its group – Vilki – which was adopted in 1992.
In the two parts of the concert, listeners will be able to hear the songs of soldiers of different times from the previously recorded “Vilki” albums as well as the songs from the latest album "Dievs līdz manīm izdienēti". The concert will feature songs whose main themes will be foals, seafaring, beer and wolves. The concert will be conducted by the band leader Edgars Lipors.
The group considers the purpose of its activity to collect, learn and popularize the life history of Latvian soldiers from the earliest times to the present day. Members of the group engage in audio and video archiving of storyteller and soldiers' stories. With its activity - concerts and concert lectures in educational institutions throughout Latvia - "Vilki" carry out important educational and patriotism-promoting work. Currently, all six members of the group, who are representatives of different professions, have been active in the group for 30 years.
Tickets for the concert will be available at the venue before the concert. Entrance fee – 5.00 euros.
