Reformation in Livonia was an essential part of the ecclesiastical and social movement ongoing throughout all of Europe. These changes awakened spiritual activity stemming from humanism of Renaissance in the bigger cities situated in the territory of today’s Latvia. On the one hand, they manifested themselves in renunciation of the former, characteristically medieval, world outlook. On the other hand, they urged both individuals and the whole society to find new attitude, based on education and critical thinking, towards secular life as value.
The exhibition gives an overview of the most important artefacts of the Latvian culture revealing the changes in the public opinion incited by the new historical circumstances.
