On display in the Riga St.Peter’s church from August 16 to September 16
Since 1992 Latvian Sculptors' Centre in collaboration with St. Peter’s Church Council has frequently organised sculpture exhibitions in St. Peter’s Church devoted to the theme of Riga and the history of Latvia.
This theme is reflected also - in this exhibition, although the main emphasis is on free and creative selection of art works that gives a good insight into contemporary Latvian sculpture. The exhibition mostly displays small forms of sculpture, which are mobile as they provide a diversity of ideas, forms and material.
There are exhibited the latest works of 37 sculptors in the exhibition. The sculptors represent all generations, from students to old masters. All sculptors have an active attitude towards the present day, to the contemporary period with its fast rhythm, a change in values and alienation that causes at the same time joy and pain. The inspiration of this year has been drawn from the nature, showing the plasticity of its forms. The audience will find it interesting to see the professional achievements of the artists and the diversity of themes.
