No 2022. gada 1. līdz 30. novembrim Rīgas kultūras un atpūtas centra “Imanta” 1. stāva galerijā apskatāma Andras Otto - Hvoinskas personālizstāde “Būs atkal vasara!”.
About herself and the exhibition, the artist says the following: "For a long, long time, people seem to me to be the most interesting and emotional content of paintings. My painting style is classical. The oil technique with all its wide possibilities is an absolute pleasure. On the other hand, abstractionism or objectless art does not seem compelling to me. When I put color against color, line against area, light against shadow, I always do it by concretizing what is depicted. I paint a little still life, often landscapes, but figurative painting fascinates me the most. I am especially drawn to the portraits of people. The most often I paint my own experiences. When I paint portraits, I really like to reproduce the deepest layers of the person being painted, not the outer ones that we show to others. So my paintings are not 'glossy'. Sad emotions are also beautiful. Age is also beautiful.
Technically, whilst painting I'm interested in color, light and line. I paint layer by layer and on top of that - glaze. Characteristic for me is to use coal. I draw lines with charcoal, shapes with paint. I developed this "personal technique" of mine over the years. I am fascinated by these two ancient materials - oil and coal. I love colors that are bright but subtle. I like to enjoy life, but I do it slowly and quietly. My paintings are like that too. Enjoy!”
