On Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 11.00, the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center" invites you to the creative workshop "Easter decorations". Those interested are offered the opportunity to get to know the Easter decoration traditions of the 20th century and with the help of a museum specialist - create a homemade decoration appropriate for the holiday.
At the beginning of the 20th century, at Easter houses were decorated with special care, it was done according to the traditions of the time, using available materials - flowers, grass, feathers, etc.
Flowers and green grass on Easter symbolized the renewal of nature,because of ths reason they were used to decorated rooms, the dinning table and food. Flower bouquets were decorated with catkins, eggshells and bird feathers. Both natural and artificial flowers were used to decorate the rooms on Easter.
Traditionally, on Holy Saturday, the family spends the day quietly, coloring eggs and preparing for the solemn Easter service.
The participants of the creative workshop will be able to color and decorate artificial eggs using various decorating materials and colors, and at the end they will get a work of art created by themselves, created in the museum "Riga Art Nouveau Center".
