From March 1 to 31, 2023, Marija Matvejeva's personal exhibition “Ar skaistumu sirdī” in the 1st floor gallery of the Riga Culture and Leisure Center "Imanta".
Marija Matvejeva is a painter, founder and teacher of the art studio "Krāsu deja". The works on view in the exhibition were created using the oil painting technique, "because it is possible to connect lasing and pasty layers of paint, it is possible to conjure up intangible depth and softness." says the artist. The artist most often paints in the oil painting technique, but sometimes she also uses pastel, watercolor and tempera techniques. Artist participates in exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad.
From an early age, Maria has had a keen interest in drawing and painting, which continued and improved in a purposeful learning process. The artist graduated from the Ulbrok School of Music and Art, the Fashion Design Department of the Riga Design and Art High School, the Iconography Department of the Latvian Christian Academy, as well as Visual Art Pedagogy at the University of Latvia. Regularly improves technical knowledge and gets creative inspiration in master classes and courses with professional representatives of the field.
The creative motto of Maria Matveva: "I believe that the task of art is to increase positive emotions, because the world is already full of negations. Just as music affects the human mind in a positive or negative way, so too can artworks with color composition and plot evoke strong feelings and inspire.”
