Several years in a row there has been a tradition in Latvia to celebrate Lithuanian Independence day. In the 16th February 2016, there will be 98 years since Lithuania renew its independence, therefore remembering these historically important events, Embassy of The Republic of Lithuania and Latvian-Lithuanian society in cooperation with Association of Culture Institutions of Riga City Council are organizing exhibition in which people will be introduced with nowadays Lithuanian traditions, art and music.
In this exhibition there will be displayed two expositions: Lithuanian painter’s Modestas Malinauskas paintings and Lithuanian Song festival in photo exhibition “Here-my home”.
Modestas Malinauskas is Lithuanian painter, who has studied art in Art School of Kauna and industrial architecture in St. Petersburg Art Academy. Since 1989 artist every year reveals exhibitions in different cities in Lithuania, as well as his paintings have been displayed in Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands and USA. His paintings show fantasy landscapes, dream boats and airships, his artwork inspires a lot of stories.
In 2014, the celebration of Lithuanian Song festival brought together around 37 000 participants. It was 90th Anniversary of this amazing tradition. The introductory part of the exposition introduces with photos, posters, sheet and lyrics scripts since first Lithuanian Song festival in 1924. In the exposition visitors will be able to see photos from Song festival in 2014, taken by photographers: Martins Vidzbelis, Arturs Moisejenko and Donats Stankevics.
