From June 13, 2023 to June 30, 2023, an exhibition of the latest works of the painter Juris Ģērmanis is on display at the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems".
On June 16, the painter and head of the folk painting studio "Grīva" Juris Gērmanis turns 82 years old. To mark this event, the artist's latest paintings are exhibited in the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems". These works, both still lifes and landscapes, were created this spring, inspired by the beauty of flourishing and blooming nature. The magic of spring moments were captured in the paintings thanks to the artist's talented sense of colors, perfect drawing skills and painting skills cultivated for more than half a century.
Juris Ģērmanis was born in 1941 in Riga. He was educated at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High School (1952–1960) and the Latvian Academy of Arts (1960–1966). In 1975, he was admitted to the Artists' Union of Latvia. In 1998, he obtained a master's degree in art. Since 1967, he has participated in more than 200 exhibitions, including more than 40 personal exhibitions in Riga and other Latvian cities. Works have been exhibited in Russia, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden. For many years he has worked in the field of pedagogy and in the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems" as the head of the folk painting studio "Grīva".
The exhibition can be viewed every day from 10.00 to 18.00 in the lobby of the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems". Free entrance.
