From March 15 to April 16 in the showcase on the 2nd floor of the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems", visitors will have a chance to see an exhibition of works created by three folk art studios of the Riga Culture Center "Iļguciems" - TLMS "Austra", TLMS "Ataudze" and TLMS "Puduris".
For Latvians, the kitchen has long been a family gathering place, the heart of the house, a place not only for cooking, but also for family conversations, traditionally it is the domain of the housewife.
The folk art exhibition "Kitchen - Pride of the Housewife" gathers items related to the kitchen and the home - wicker baskets and dishes, wicker boxes and woven tablecloths, towels, aprons, rugs and other textiles that gives the room a homely atmosphere.
TLMS "Austra" is a weaving studio, its members learn and practice various weaving techniques, members of TLMS "Ataudze" work with delicate natural materials - braiding of reeds, buns, roots, weaving both practical and decorative items. TLMS "Puduris" paints wicker and from them weaves baskets, dishes, boxes and interior items.
